A few years ago, I ran away from the city for a day and wandered into a small town called Julian, California located in the foothills of the mountains not far from San Diego. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect that adventure to drastically impact my life. I strolled into a small shop called The Warm Hearth and heard the most amazing music I have ever be privilaged to listen to, and I've worked with musicians all my life. My eyes made contact with a small man confined to a wheelchair - Livy Delafield - and I froze in my tracks as I realised that he was the master behind the music. I've played guitar since I was a teen, but nothing I ever do will begin to compare with the soul stirring music Livy produced. He must have read the recconition on my face, because he continued the song he was playing until I had heard it from begining to end. That song was Sheebeg and Sheemore. If you don't listen to any other piece of music on this site, please take the time to listen to that one. With the last fifteen dollars I had to my name at that time, I bought one of Livy's CDs. It has become my most treasured possesion. When I heard of his death in a car accident, I was crushed - the world has been deprived of one of the greatest musical talents to come along in a long, long time. I had the ability to help promote Livy's music while he was alive and somehow, I never managed to find the time. This website is the only way that I can begin to right that tragic mistake.
If you enjoy what you hear, please feel free to visit as many times as you wish or make a recording of Livy's music so that it continues to live on. No one from this site is in any way entittled to any royalties from work that he produced, but we would like to hear from those who enjoy this wonderful music. Please sign our guestbook and pass along the location of this site to all you know.
Mr. Delafield was only able to produce one CD during his much too short life, but in honor of his memory, we have placed the songs from his CD on this site for everyone to enjoy. We think the joy of sharing his incredible gift for music would have made him happy.
From the CD entitled Anchient and Original Compositions for Hammered Dulcimer, Guitar and Synthesizers.
Unfortunately, space restrictions kept us from putting all of the songs on the CD on this site, so we tried to choose the best.
